This month was not only hard things, we also experienced so many sweet moments and times of simply being with people and sharing with them the good news of being loved by the King of the World.

Some amazing moments/experiences:

  • Playing red light and green light with kids in a rough area of San Jose
  • Serving women food and coffee who are normally taken advantage of and having the opportunity to hear their story (even if I only understand a little bit…)
  • Praying for people we meet and hearing their story
  • Having cake and a mariachi band come in for the prostitute ministry and helping create a fun and safe environment for them
  • Having though provoking and impactful conversations with people at debrief about what we are doing and how the Lord is moving in our lives and theirs!
  • Spending one whole day with two of my teammates traveling around Costa Rica, watching a movie together and praying for one another at the end
  • Painting light-poles of Jaco Costa Rica to beautify the city and encourage locals to help beautify the city
  • Met a Deaf man in Costa Rica who is from Ukraine and got to talk to him a little bit! (Also tried to learn some Russian Sign Language after that…so fun!)
  • Hanging out with kids at an amazing women’s event so their moms could really enjoy the teachings
  • Teach children 3-5 years old about how God can use you and you can follow him however old or young you are! (After the lesson one kid was getting baptized which was amazing and then another kid, we were hanging out with all weekend said he wanted to be baptized)
  • Playing soccer with kids on my back
  • Playing tag with those same amazing and sweet kids in a hard area of San Jose
  • Praying offer our ministry partner after a hard day but seeing God truly how God works everything for the good
  • Able to be blessed by our great guys on our team on Valentine’s day. They made us all breakfast, bought us flowers and wrote each of us notes; so sweet and such an example of truly caring for one another
  • Build even more community within our squad and getting to know people on the other team even more!
  • See walls break down and chains broken to see freedom in our squad and so many people we met
  • Fit seven people and a dog in one small taxi
  • Be able to come together to pray over one another and the country of Costa Rica
  • Be able to pray for a man who had been praying for angels to come into his Uber because he just recently found out he had stomach cancer. So hard to hear and see but amazing to see God answer prayers and have the opportunity to hear his story and pray for him.
    • Pray for Jorge and his daughter Rachel please
  • Learn and practice immediate obedience to what the Lord is encouraging me to do or say

Today I encourage you look for the good, look for the moments when God shares His little gifts to you. For me it’s stars and flowers, for one of my teammates it is butterflies, for another it’s turtles, for another it’s sunflowers. He has ways He speaks to each of us, are we looking for Him or the darkness that tries to interfere?

“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it”

~John 1:5

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it’s waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,the holy place where the Most High dwells.God is within her, she will not fall;God will help her at break of day”

~Psalm 46:1-5

Where are you looking? God’s light and hope or the fear of the world? I challenge you, I know some of you are going through really hard times right now and I’m sorry. This world is not fair or good, but our God is. I pray and hope you can see God’s little messages to you today, maybe something you cherish, maybe something someone says.
God is always speaking to you are listening, are you focusing on His light?
